I have been involved in the soffit & fascia business for almost 40 years. I started back in the days of the original aluminum siding. The Aluminum was supplied by Alcoa. It was about twice the thickness of what is produced today in 2022. We still use aluminum covering for the the fascia wood. This is because it must be bent to form a track for the soffit panel. The other edge of the aluminum fascia covering is fit under the metal "drip edge" of the roof.

However, only utilize aluminum fascia covering. NEVER make the mistake of covering your entire home with aluminum siding. It fades, dents, & is just not done in 2022. If someone tries to sell you aluminum siding or aluminum soffit panel, do NOT buy it. I have NOT sold aluminum soffit panel in over 20 years! I wouldn't sell aluminum soffit panel to my worst enemy.

Along came the wondrous product we call vinyl . You can hit the side of your home covered in vinyl siding, with a baseball & the ball will bounce off with no damage to the vinyl siding. Vinyl siding NEVER gets painted. However, a pressure washing when mold & pollen accumulate, is just normal maintenance to pressure wash your vinyl siding. All of the pollen, mold, and dirt will be gone and the vinyl siding will look like new. Their are different styles and grades of siding products and the buying process for the consumer can be exhausting.
